Elton John - You're So Static  (Caribou)

Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
Available on the album Caribou

I've a constant ache in the morning light
It's on account of the night before
Some Park Lane lady in a shady bar
Took a fancy to the watch I wore

But I can still remember how she laughed at me
As I spun around and hit the bed
She said thank you honey, forget about the money
This pretty watch'll do instead

City living woman, you're so static
Matching your men with a hook and eye
If you're gonna spend the summer in New York City
Them women oh oh oh they're gonna slice your pie

Said you're so static, baby I've had it
Rolling in a yellow cab
Downtown hustlers trying to pull some muscle
If they catch you, oh oh oh it could turn out bad

It's a Show me what you want, I'll show you what I've got
I can show you a real good time
She's a friend indeed of a friend in need
But you'll be sorry when she leaves you crying

This is actually a song condeming racism as you can hear part of the lyrics at the end of the song it says "There's a man over there what's his colour I don't care He's my brother let us live in peace" And I don't think this song is a gospel at all don't forget in the Bilble Moses condemed homosexuality and then regarding Elton......... Judge yourself After all this is one of Elton John's best songs

this is about the situation in palestine. Jews and Arabs are believed to be distant cousins, both of whom desended from abraham. and when the jews first settled the Arabs were decieved into believing that they came in peace. but they were decieved and removed from their land. also, he swears by holy moses, which makes no sence in any other context. I believe he said that was what the song was talking about but there was such a backlash that he no longer admits it.

@vanlatino A gospel isn't proprietarily Christian music, but the more precise term for it would be Negro Spiritual, like the songs African slaves would sing/during the Civil Rights Movement, a la "Free at Last," "Swing Low Sweet Chariot," "We Shall Overcome," "Let My People Go" (yes, the last one is about Hebrews in Egypt, but the struggle is similar) As for your other statements, condemning racism and giving homophobia a pass is a double standard and a bit hypocritical, don't you think?

Read lyrics at the end, he's blaming "Holy Moses." He's been "deceived," even "removed." It makes you think it's about racial harmony... but is about "distant" "kinds" of beings whose "affairs" are oppositely "directed." Also, read that he decorates his home with satanic art. Was considering covering this song, waited 221/2 years to look into it a little further. They take it as Zeus and the Rape of Ganemedes. Hombly speaking...

He had a bald spot on the back of his head, even back then. He had that type of thinning hair that you could tell wasn't going to be around very long

@flapjackrabbit Please donot misunderstood me at any time I tried to say something negative at all please accept my apologies if you thought that way, indeed I am against racism as myself have been a victim of racism here in Vancouver just for being a Latino and since my teenage years I like Elton John's music.
